a quick stop @ vwvortex brings up an article from 9/2007, so it’s not an april fool’s joke. there is a pretty picture of the new scirocco on vortex’s front page. i wonder if it will be sold in the us or not..

i’m not usually a fan of hummer suvs, but the hummer hx concept is growing on me. i like how there is no ‘radio’, just an integrated speaker system. if you look below the wierd automatic shifter (it looks like an airplane throttle) there’s an iphone in a dock serving as the car’s headunit.

speaking of the automatic shifter… i’m not sure what to make of this thing. it looks like an airplane throttle, but you select gears for the 6 speed automatic transmission with it. eh…..

…that mounts low and out of the way when the vehicle is parked – also hiding from sight the engine starter button. It has a spring-loaded cover that pops up when the driver is ready to select a gear.

it will be interesting to see how the hx concept develops and if it will actually make it to production. the only thing i would want to add would be… paddle shifters for the auto 6 speed. [ uncrate ]

i was suprised when i saw that general motors was using the creative commons attribution 3.0 license for it’s images. rock on.
