another contender for a laptop is the hp tx2000z. it’s another deal i’ve spotted @ slickdeals a few times, $500 off any $1399 hp notebook. actually i guess it’s not a contender because i actually bought it before i finished this post.

amd turion 64 x2 dual-core mobile gold blah blah 2.4ghz, 2gb ddr2 mem, geforce 6150, touch screen & pen….

it looks like there might be some work needed to get the usb wacom tablet to work, but there’s always the 30 day return policy (i should re-read that) if i really can’t get it to work under ubuntu.

surprisingly enough someone has already installed osx on the hp tx2000z:

osx: import ipod songs into itunes

February 4th, 2008

ha! after trying a few ‘shareware’ ipod importers i came across podblitz. simply copy the .jar to your ipod, select some files, and copy them over. floola, sentui, and a few others just wouldn’t import my music no matter what i tried.

modbook: tablet osx notebook

December 26th, 2007

i just priced out a modbook for $2279… no optical drive, basically a stripper 2.0 ghz model. i’ll have to wait for some reviews of actual first run models, then i’ll have to wrestle with the idea of putting an order in. i also want to see if apple comes out with an ultra-portable macbook… i miss my old ppc ibook, i wonder if i can steal it back?

because apple hasn’t released this:

it isn’t portable, but still a good idea
