beer is good for you

November 6th, 2007
In a rare piece of good news for those who like a pint, Spanish researchers say beer can help someone who is dehydrated retain liquid better than water.Prof Manuel Garzon, of Granada University, also claimed the bubbles in beer help to quench the thirst and that its carbohydrate content can help to replace lost calories. [here]

erm. this is really news? i even had soccer coaches in high school tell me that beer was probably one of the best sources of carbs if you were old enough to drink. shrug. i’d rather drink beer than eat something 75% of the time anyhow. mmmm beer.

i’m glad i’m not british

August 22nd, 2007
now british people will be subjected to background searches before entering the country. religious beliefs, political views, medical history, and even sexual orientation will be asked of ~4 million britians that decide they want to come to the u.s. for a cup of tea. oh, and instead of just hanging onto those records the u.s. government will hang onto them for 12 additional years. whee.

hrm. this guide was originally printed in 1943. if you were wondernig what US servicemen were doing in iraq in 1943, they were there to woop some hilter ass. atleast someone in the war dept was nice enough to print out a handy-dandy quick guide about iraq. there’s even some commonly used translations towards the end of the pdf file. i like how they even scanned in the checkout log so you can see this book was checked out a total of 2 times before being scanned.
